Maurice was born on July 1, 1926, to Harland and Silva (Pence) Jamison in Letcher. He graduated from Letcher High School in 1944.
On Dec. 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Harper. They had two daughters together, Sandy and Jackie. His first wife, Dorothy, preceded him in death in 1973. Maurice worked for Burns Lumber Company from 1946-1975, and then owned Jamison-Mueller Lumber Company until 1981. Maurice was a proud Mason since 1949, as well as a Shriner since 1975.
On Dec. 29, 1983, Maurice and Rose Piklapp were united in marriage. They worked together building Future Homes Inc., designing and building custom homes. Then he started building motels, expanding over a nine-state region. Maurice and Rose worked together until their retirement in 1998, when they moved to the Black Hills. Maurice never really retired, though, doing consulting work and even working at a casino until the age of 90.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; daughter, Jackie Olson; stepdaughter, Trish (Henry) Guerrero; sister, Gretchen (Perry) Strombeck; brother, Harley (Sharon) Jamison; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Harland and Silva; wife, Dorothy; brothers, Bob and Bill; daughter, Sandy; stepson, Mark; and two sons-in-law, Jim and Charlie.
