SIOUX FALLS – For the first time this season, Augustana women’s basketball senior Shelby Selland has been named the NSIC South Player of the Week.
This is Selland’s second-career Player of the Week honor, and the first time this season a member of the Vikings women’s basketball program has garnered the award.
Over the course of two games this past weekend, Selland averaged 18.5 points, 8.5 rebounds per game, 2.5 blocks per game, and three assists per game. The center shot an astonishing 70 percent from the field over the weekend.
On Friday vs. Winona State, the Letcher native recorded her third double-double of the season in a 19 point, 10 rebound performance showing in the 78-67 win. She added two assists and two steals to go along with her double-double.
On Saturday in the 86-52 win over Upper Iowa, Selland poured in 18 points, corralled seven rebounds, dished out four assists, and added two steals.
The Vikings now return home for a two-game homestand against Minnesota-Crookston on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., and wrap up the weekend on Sunday vs. Bemidji State with a 12:30 p.m. tip-off. Both games will take place at the Sioux Falls Arena.
