Dawn Denise (Brick) Spelbring, 60, of Forestburg, passed away peacefully on Oct. 25, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society in Howard with her husband at her side.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 5-7 p.m. at Basham Funeral Service in Woonsocket with a prayer service that followed. Funeral Services will be Thursday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m. at the Forestburg Lutheran Church with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be held at a later date.
Dawn was born on Jan. 18, 1959, to Dale and Patricia (Wallin) Brick. She grew up in Mitchell. Dawn left home after high school, and she started her life raising her two sons.
Dawn had an infectious, happy personality and brought joy to all she met. Her generous heart provided support and care for many people and animals. Dawn took in countless animals over the years and loved them with all of her heart. Dawn also had a love for the Minnesota Vikings and the color purple.
Dawn spent many years bartending in Mitchell. She met her loving husband in 1999. She married Jim Spelbring on Oct. 31, 2002. She worked alongside her husband for Loiseau Construction, of Flandreau, for many years. She enjoyed being on the road and made many friends. She then worked for a nursing home until a back injury caused her to go on disability.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Spelbring of Forestburg; sons, Beau Kummer of Parkston and Cory (Tiffany) Kummer of Parkston; two stepdaughters, Annie (Steve) Schoenhard of Chamberlain and Meghan (Aaron) Olson of Platte; five grandchildren; her father, Dale Brick of Mesa, Ariz.; sister, Lorelee Chleborad of Mesa, Ariz.; brother, Todd (Carmen) Brick of Nashua, N.H.; two nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Brick.
