In the Boy Scouts, the Eagle Scout rank is the highest and most prestigious rank a young man can earn. It takes years of work and dedication. The Boy Scout organization was founded Feb. 8, 1910 and the first Eagle Scout award was granted in 1912. In those 107 years, only 2.01 percent of Boy Scouts have ever achieved the Eagle Scout rank.
Kadin Schlenker, son of Kevin and Kristina Schlenker of Woonsocket, received his Eagle Scout this year and was honored at a ceremony held Aug. 17 at the Woonsocket Community Center.
