On Monday, Aug. 5, the City of Woonsocket held its youth summer recreation baseball and softball end of season picnic and awards ceremony. Players, coaches and parents gathered at the picnic shelter west of Lake Prior in Woonsocket to visit and enjoy grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, chips and a wide assortment of tasty treats provided by the families in attendance.

Coach Armondo Rodriguez began the awards ceremony presentation with an overview of the season for each of the baseball and softball levels involved in the summer recreation program. He also shared that this year’s sixth grade boys in the Majors baseball group were his first group of kindergarteners during his first year coaching.
