The SCW track team traveled to Rapid City to compete in the 2021 State Track Meet at O’Harra Stadium.
The 4×800 relay started the meet and was rated 24th coming in and finished 14th overall. They ran their best time of the year with a 9:00.37. Members were Carter Hitchcock, Hayden Beigh, Clay Olinger and Jeff Boschee.
The girls 4×200 team was rated 24th and placed 17th. They also ran their best time of the season with a 1:54.75 (Aubrey Moody, Kamryn Ochsner, Kennadie Ochsner, Elizabeth Boschee).
Aubrey Senska was unable to clear the opening height of 4’9” at State.
Saturday, Elizabeth Boschee and Kamryn Ochsner competed in the Open 400. Boschee finished 17th with 1:04.37, and Ochsner finished 21st with 1:06.40.
Elizabeth Boschee was running first in her heat in the Open 800 with only a few meters to go but collapsed out of sheer exhaustion. She would get up and finish the race. Boschee finished 20th with 2:44.36 but would have been in the running for a top eight placing and a personal record had she been able to maintain her footing.
Finally, the girl’s 4×400 relay of (Kamryn Ochsner, Kennadie Ochsner, Trinity Boschee, Elizabeth Boschee) ran a 4:40.36 to finish 23rd.
The Blackhawks hope to continue their success as they move up to Class A to compete next season.
