On Monday, July 17, the SDVFW 16U Letcher Hawks traveled to Canistota to take a tough hit losing to the Canistota/Freeman Sticks 0-16. Wyatt Anderson started the game pitching for the Hawks. He gave up five hits and four runs over three innings, striking out two and walking no one. Offensively, the Hawks were led by Bryce Larson and Payton Uecker who each had one hit in the loss.
The following night, the Hawks bounced back and dominated the field when they traveled to Chamberlain for a doubleheader and added two wins to their record. In the first game, Oscar Anderson and Payton Uecker led the Hawks at the plate with two hits each. Bryce Larson, Oscar Anderson, Grant Edwards, Wyatt Anderson, Clay Moody, Parker Ettswold and McCoy Schulz each drove in one run for the Letcher win. The Hawks ran wild on the base paths, accumulating seven stolen bases for the 8-2 win over Chamberlain.
For the Hawks’ defense, Larson started the game on the mound. He allowed four hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking four. His teammates helped out with turning a double play, and they were sure handed in the field with no errors in the game.
