Notice is hereby given to the public, the county chair of each political party with a candidate on the ballot, any independent candidate or candidate without party affiliation on the ballot, and the ballot question committees for or against an initiated or referred measure or initiated constitutional amendment, that the automatic tabulating equipment will be tested to ascertain that it will correctly count the votes for all offices and measures that are to be cast at the primary election held on the 4th day of June, 2024.

The test will be conducted on the 29th of May 2024, at 10 a.m. at the following location: Sanborn County Courthouse, Commissioners Room.

Any voter who can’t mark a ballot because the voter has a physical disability or can’t read, may ask any person he or she chooses to help the voter vote. Any voter may ask for instruction in the proper procedure for voting. Any voter at the polling place prior to 7:00 p.m. is allowed to cast a ballot.

Any person who is convicted of a felony on or after July 1, 2012, loses the right to vote. However, any such person may register to vote following the completion of the person’s felony sentence.  

Any person who is convicted of a felony on or before June 30, 2012, and who receives a sentence of imprisonment to the adult penitentiary system, including a suspended execution of sentence, loses the right to vote. Anyone who makes a false statement when voting, tries to vote knowing he or she is not a qualified voter, or tries to vote more than once has committed an election crime.

A primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in all the voting precincts in Sanborn County.

The election polls will be open from seven a.m. to seven p.m. central time on the day of the election.

The polling place in each precinct of the county is as follows:

Precinct 1 – Afton, Benedict, Diana, Floyd, Oneida, Ravenna, Union Townships; and Artesian City at 4-H Building in Forestburg;

Precinct 2 – Butler, Elliott, Letcher, Logan Townships; Letcher City at 4-H Building in Forestburg;

Precinct 4 – Jackson, Silver Creek, Twin Lake, Woonsocket Townships; Ward 2 Woonsocket City at 4-H Building in Forestburg;

Precinct 5 – Ward 1 and Ward 3 of Woonsocket City; Warren Township at 4-H Building in Forestburg.
