Lake Prior in Woonsocket will be the site of the Relay for Life of Sanborn and Jerauld County cancer fundraiser on Sunday, July 30. Registration and a free-will donation meal will begin at 5 p.m., with a program including entertainment from 6-10 p.m.
In the past, the event has raised about $30,000 for cancer research, prevention, treatment and support for patients and their families through the American Cancer Society. Locally, funds have been used to provide free colorectal screening kits, wigs for chemotherapy patients, hotel assistance for patients and their families, support for breast cancer patients, and referrals to outside services.
Luminaries to honor or remember friends or family members are available at First National Bank and Dakotaland in Woonsocket, Cortrust Bank in Artesian, and at the Sanborn County Auditor’s office at the Courthouse. The completed luminary forms and donations should be returned by Tuesday, July 25, so the bags can be prepared for the Relay event.
