The Woonsocket firemen were called out Monday afternoon on a mutual aid call for a grass fire four miles north of Alpena. It is suspected that the fire was ignited by haying equipment, due to the drought conditions and the hot, windy weather on Monday.
The firemen were on the scene for about an hour and were one of several fire departments assisting to extinguish the blaze.
