The Town ‘N Kountry Kids 4-H Club Blue Group celebrated Christmas with a Mystery Dinner at the Letcher Community Center on Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. Approximately 80 members, parents, grandparents, and community members attended. The mystery dinner was served in four courses. All guests were given a menu to select four items for each course. Of course, the menu items were not easily recognizable so laughter was shared by all. Pictured in this week’s paper, the members engaged in a circle gift exchange and enjoyed goodies furnished by the members.

The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on Dec. 9 at the Community Center in Woonsocket.

The meeting was called to order by President Xavier Baysinger. The Flag Pledge was led by Emmitt Feistner, and the 4-H Pledge was led by Alex Anderson. 

Roll call was led by Vice President Bailey Feistner with the topic, “Favorite Part of Christmas” which was answered by 27 members.  

The secretary’s report was given by Secretary Brooklyn Swenson and approved as presented.

The treasurer’s report was presented by Treasurer Evan Ohlrogge and approved as presented.

Health/Safety Officer Hope Baysinger gave a safety report and encouraged everyone to make a vehicle emergency winter kit. Lane Burkel and Avery Miller reported on American Education Week activities. Blake Larson, Charles Hunter, and Hope Baysinger gave a report on Shooting Sports Safety Night. Xavier reported on the Trapping Workshops. Nathan Linke and Bailey reported on the 4-H Ambassador Program. Nathan is part of the TLC planning committee and this year’s theme is “Mastering Life’s Circus.” Bailey has been selected to attend an Agricultural Summit in Washington D.C. Tati Roberts reported on winning the Poultry Essay contest which won $500 for the club. 

For old business, the club talked about progress on the Christmas Caring project. They are purchasing socks for the nursing home residents and gifts for the Senior Caring Tree. As families purchase the gifts, the members will deliver them and take a picture. They reminded everyone to complete their 4-H Online enrollment. Leader Paula Linke talked about planning a date to work on projects including making leather keychains, t-shirts and wood signs. 

For new business, the club members discussed the start date of Shooting Sports, Jan. 6. They gave club t-shirts to new members that didn’t have one. Plans were discussed for a community service project at the nursing home. Plans are for Jan. 2. The members talked about planning a couple of fun activities during Christmas break, swimming at the Aquatic Center and a sledding day at Wessington Springs. Paula will work on dates. 

Following the meeting, members wrote notes in Christmas cards and Cloverbuds colored Christmas-themed coloring pages for their elderly friends. Character Officer Megan Linke led a character activity called “Get Your Big Rocks in First” on making time for the important things in life, like family. Recreation Officer Tati led a fun “Open a Christmas present while wearing oven mitts” activity.
