The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on Sept. 23, at the Community Center in Woonsocket.

The meeting was called to order by Acting President Megan Linke. The Flag Pledge was led by Charles Hunter and the 4-H Pledge was led by Collin Schmiedt. Roll call was led by Emily Ohlrogge with the topic, “Favorite 4-H project” which was answered by 28 members.  

The secretary’s report was read by Spens Schlicht and approved as presented.  The treasurer’s report was given by Acaiya Schultz and approved.  Henry Hunter gave a safety tip.

Hope Baysinger reported on the Chicken Drop fundraiser.  Reports on Achievement Day and State Fair projects were given by Alexa Goertz, Kaitlyn Swenson, Henry Hunter, Blake Larson, and Devyn Brooks. Megan told the group about the McCrossan Boys Ranch visit.  The club donated the tie blankets they made while they were there. Alex Anderson reported on the fun at Air Madness.  

     For old business, the club went over their plans for 4-H week, that includes asking everyone to wear green for 4-H on Wednesday, Oct. 10.  

For new business, the club talked about getting their record books and award applications done. They are due Oct. 1, and club members received newspaper clippings and pictures from Leader Paula Linke for their books. The club needs to put together a barrel setting schedule for October 26-28 in Huron. 

The next meeting will be at the 4-H building on Oct. 14 following the shooting sports awards event.

Following the meeting there were numerous talks and demonstrations. Morgan Schmiedt showed everyone how to make pickle wraps and Alexa Goertz demonstrated how to make a smoothie. London Metzger showed the group how to clean pennies. Isaiah Schultz taught club members about making an origami swan. Kaitlyn Swenson told everyone about her breeding beef project.  Nick Snedeker gave a presentation on how to identify authentic versus counterfeit money. Collin Schmiedt told the club about his market beef project. Elisha Schultz taught about the USS Lexington. Charles Hunter presented an illustrated talk on shooting clay pigeons and pheasants with a shotgun. Myles Larson told about his solar-powered plane project. Brooklyn Swenson showed how to make watercolor wall art. Spens Schlicht gave a presentation on cross country and track, with a focus on running hurdles.

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Xavier Baysinger. The Flag Pledge was led by Tatiana Roberts, and the 4-H Pledge was led by Hope Baysinger. Roll call was led by Lane Burkel with the topic, “Project from the State Fair that I am most proud of,” which was answered by 11 members.  

The secretary’s report was read by Bailey Feistner and approved as presented.

Numerous reports on Achievement Days and State Fair exhibits were given as follows: Beef – Collin Schmiedt, Poultry – Bailey, Goat and Special Foods – Hope, Rock’in Bands project – Tatiana, Character project – Corey Roberts, Pool Noodle Horse project – Gigi Roberts, Public Speaking and Fashion Revue – Lane, Horticulture Judging – Hope, Beef and Goats – Sutton Senska, Sheep – Shiloh Senska.  Bailey also told the group about being chosen as 4-H Ambassador.  

For old business, the McCrossan Boys Ranch and Air Madness trip has been rescheduled to Sep. 22. The hope is to plan a community service project at the nursing home for November.  

For new business, the club talked about getting the record books and award applications done. They are due Oct. 1.  We made plans for activities for 4-H Week.  

Shooting Sports Recognition Event is Oct. 14 and 4-H Recognition Event is Nov. 10.  Members will be working on a barrel setting schedule for October 26-28. The club decided to do a “Chicken Drop” fundraiser at the homecoming football game. The next meeting is planned for Oct. 14.  

Following the meeting were three presentations. Tatiana Roberts gave a demonstration on her hobbies project of making Rock’in Bands. Gigi Roberts discussed making her Visual Arts pool noodle horse project. Corey Roberts presented information on the Redwood trees in California with his “Avenue of the Giants” talk.
