4-H

The Union Farmhands met Sunday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. at the 4-H building.
The meeting was called to order by President Catherine Bechen.
The following members answered roll call, Wiley and Ladoux Bracha, Catherine Bechen, Austin Schmit, Sawyer and Aubrey Senska, Amber, Dana and Alex Schelske and Kadyn and Avery Turner.
Sawyer Senska read the secretary’s report. It was approved with a motion by Alex Schelske and a second from Schmit.
Amber Schelske read the treasurer’s report. It was approved with a motion by Kadyn Turner and a second from Bechen.
Old Business: The new T-shirts were handed out.
Receipts were turned in and approved for the T-shirts and candy for the Melon Festival.
Members discussed the State Fair. Everyone did well.
New business: 4-H books are due Oct. 2.
Members voted to do the community calendar again this year.
Demonstrations and illustrated talks were presented: Alex Schelske – How to aim a bow and arrow; Ladoux Bracha – How to make fudge; Sawyer Senska – How to make a metal flower using old tractor parts; Katie Schmit – How to make a stencil wall hanging; Austin Schmit – How to make a paper towel holder using old horse shoes and chain; Amber Schelske – How to field clean a gun; Dana Schleske – photo taking; Kadyn Turner – Making slime.
A motion to adjourn was made by Alex, with a second by Katie.

Charles Hunter presents a talk on hunting safely.

The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on Sept. 17 at the Community Center in Woonsocket.
The meeting was called to order by Vice President Xavier Baysinger. The flag pledge was led by Anna Hunter and the 4-H pledge was led by Henry Hunter. Roll call was led by Hope Baysinger with the question, “What was your favorite State Fair 4-H project?”, which was answered by nine members.
The secretary’s report was read by Secretary Spens Schlicht and approved as read. The treasurer’s report was given by Xavier and approved.
Lane Burkel gave a report on his participation at Achievement Days and Hope reported on her participation at the State Fair.
Under new business, the members talked about getting record books done. They also discussed ideas for celebrating National 4-H Week.
Following the meeting, Charles Hunter presented a talk on his hunting and safety experience.
The next meetings are planned for Sept. 18 and 23.

The Union Farmhands met Aug. 19 at the Forestburg Melon Festival. The club members set up a ring toss game and a guessing game.
Many kids enjoyed the games along with the candy prizes. Members present were, pictured left to right: Sawyer Senska, Austin Schmit, Aubrey Senska, Katie Schmit and Catherine Bechen.
