Around the County

Even with the arrival of the first cold and wintery weather, Homecoming for the 2019-2020 school year was full of fun and festivities for everyone in the county. Both schools had dress-up days for spirit week that got many of the kids from grades Pre-K through 12 involved in the event. Moving the parade from Friday to Wednesday because of the weather forecast turned out to be a great idea, so participants and spectators enjoyed a beautiful parade with the theme “Around the World.” Thursday’s evening activities had to be postponed or cancelled due to the snowy weather that included some freezing rain and dangerous road conditions in some areas. However, the football game still took place on Friday night with spectators bundled up and drinking a lot of coffee and hot cocoa to stay warm. Although the boys did not end the week with a victory, Blackhawk pride was visible everywhere.

The news office for the Sanborn Weekly Journal has officially moved to its new location on Dumont Avenue, which is considered Woonsocket’s Main Street. We are located in what was originally the FSA Office and was most recently the Dakota Peddler. CreativeWEB Apparel and Gifts will also be relocating and joining us in the very near future. You can’t miss us with our big beautiful signs on the building. Thank you to everyone for your understanding during this relocation and transition.
