On July 15-16, six teams from all over South Dakota and one team from Iowa competed in the 2019 State Equestrian Competition in Huron. A local team, the Mitchell Outlaws, competed well and brought home several placings in each category. Members of the Mitchell Outlaws team that competed in Huron were Kyle Clarambeau of Letcher, Matt Baysinger of Woonsocket, Aaron Krouse of Montrose, Julia Stach of Letcher, Ian Ames of Woonsocket and Brent Hieb of Mitchell. The Mitchell Outlaws were coached by Shana (Clarambeau) Jensen and Rod Clarambeau, both of Letcher.

Hegg Insurance of Woonsocket along with Grinnell Mutual of Grinnell, Iowa, named Madison Moody of Letcher as one of 80 recipients of a 2019 Road to Success scholarship.

“We’re happy to recognize Madi’s academic accomplishments and safe driving record with a Road to Success scholarship, and we wish Madi the very best in future endeavors,” said Trudy Larson of Hegg Insurance in Woonsocket.

Moody was selected from thousands of Grinnell Mutual policyholders based on excellence in the classroom and a safe driving record. Madi’s parents are Tracy and Perry Moody.

SIOUX FALLS – The moment stands as one of the most remarkable comebacks of the 2018-19 Augustana Athletic season, and it’s now been honored by the South Dakota Athletic Trainers Association. After tearing her ACL in January, women’s basketball student-athlete Shelby Selland returned to the court just a month after her injury. 

On Wednesday, the SDATA honored Selland and Athletic Trainer Sara Bortscheller with the annual Iron Will award, which serves to honor an outstanding athlete who successfully returned to competition following a serious athletic injury. It also serves to honor the certified athletic trainer who played a major role in working with the athlete.
