The Office of Academic Affairs at Black Hills State University has released the Dean’s List for the fall 2017 semester. A total of 733 students maintained a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher while taking at least 12 credit hours. Students that achieved a 4.0 GPA are recognized with an asterisk (*).
Included on the dean’s list were: *Tayla Weber of Woonsocket and Logun Feistner of Letcher.
The Letcher American Legion Auxiliary hosted their annual appreciation supper for the Letcher volunteer firemen and EMTs and their families. About 30 people attended this year, with many from out of town. The Auxiliary furnished the supper, and lots of good food was shared. Karen Hoffman and Pat Nelson gave a couple of readings, and then the firemen and spouses were divided into two groups to play games. A good time was had by all.

Mitchell — A total of 336 students at Mitchell Technical Institute have been placed on the Fall Semester 2017 President’s List, according to MTI President Mark Wilson. To be named to the list, students must earn a term GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and complete at least 12 credit hours of academic work during the semester.
Local students included on the list are:
Logan Effling and Thomas Hetland, both of Artesian, Byron Jessen, Heather VanOverschelde and Cortney Walker, all of Letcher, and Phillip Goettsch and Allen Schaller, both of Woonsocket.
