JUDY ARHART

Huron

Judy Arhart, age 76, of Alpena, died Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls from complications of infection. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Bethesda Church, Huron, with Rev. Roy Burket, officiating. A private family burial will be held. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, at Bethesda Church, with her family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening.

Memorials are preferred with Judy’s choice being the Lakota Nazarene Church at Wounded Knee with Pastor Cecilia Spotted Bear. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kuhler Funeral Home. Visit www.kuhlerfuneralhome.com

Judy Arhart was born in Dixon, Illinois on April 19, 1942, to Lloyd and Lois (Grossnicklel) Summers. She graduated from Polo High school in Polo, Illinois and graduated from Greenville College, Greenville, Illinois. She taught Home Economics and English at Wessington Springs Academy, Wessington Springs, South Dakota. 

On November 24, 1967, she married LaVerne Arhart. She lived on the farm in Alpena until 2015 when she moved to Huron.

Judy loved to cook and sew and was well known for making special decorated birthday cakes for her children’s birthday parties. She was active in Bethesda Church as church librarian for 28 years. She was a loving wife, and mother and especially adored her thirteen grandchildren and her cat Ernie. Judy loved God and her family.

Grateful for having shared in her life are two daughters, Ellie (Kenny) Kleinsasser and Vicky (Brent) Schneider; two sons, Andrew (Melissa) Arhart, and Jonathan (Joy) Arhart; thirteen grandchildren, Zach, Nick, Ben, Ty Kleinsasser, Jacob, Abbie, and Julia Schneider, Anna, Wyatt, Josie, Will, Jesse Arhart; and Zoey Arhart; one brother, Dan (Linda) Summers; step-mother, Jane Summers; one brother-in-law, LeRoy (Phyllis) Arhart; two sisters-in-law, Alice Olson and Agnes Ekstrum; one half sister-in-law, Diane (Harlan) Thompson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceeded in death by her husband; her parents; her step father-in-law, Leonard Sheffield, her mother-in-law, Clara Sheffield; her sisters, Sherrill Klakulak and Karen Groves; and her brothers-in-law, Darrell Groves, Gene Olson and Richard Ekstrum.

Kathy Otter

Faulkton

Kathy Dianne Otter, 70, of Faulkton, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018, at the Faulkton Area Medical Center from cancer.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 18, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Cresbard. Burial followed in the Oakland Cemetary, Seneca. Visitation and prayer services were held Tuesday, July 17, at Luce Funeral Home in Faulkton. A fellowship gathering at the community center in Faulkton followed. Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton was entrusted with Kathy’s arrangements.

Kathy Dianne Dahme was born July 2, 1948, in Faulkton to Roy and Lillian (Emmons) Dahme. She was the youngest of 13 and attended school in Faulkton School.

On June 30, 1968, she married the love of her life, James Marvin Otter. Together they raised five children. They farmed in the Cresbard area until moving to Faulkton several years ago.

Kathy was a dedicated wife and mother. She was very active in many clubs and organizations. She was a member of the Cresbard Ladies Auxiliary and a 4-H leader from 1982-2000. She held many offices in the Faulk County Saddle Club, Broncos 4-H Horse Club and Faulkton Area Arts Council. Kathy was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Cresbard and active in LWML.

Kathy is survived by her husband, James; children, Rebecca (Brad) Lewandowski, Raechel Otter, Joseph (Tracy) Otter, Jessica (Matthew Allen) Otter and Jonathan (Emily) Otter; two brothers, Terry (Pat) Dahme and Roger (Doris) Dahme; one sister, Carol (Philip) Geist; 11 grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and beloved coffee friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lillian Dahme; brothers, Den-nis, Gerry and Bruce; sisters, Rita, Keo, JoAnn, Peggy, Linda and Donna; and infant granddaughter, Isabella.

Anita Cremer

Spencer

Anita Lorraine Sundstrom Cremer, 94, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2018.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 27 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 28 at St Martin’s Catholic Church in Emery.

Anita and her twin, Adney, were born July 23, 1923 on the family farm in Artesian. Her parents were Otto and Helen Sundstrom, who were Swedish immigrants. Anita graduated from Artesian High School and then attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell.

She taught at a country school near Fedora and then moved to Spencer to teach. Anita married Leonard Cremer on September 26, 1949. She and her husband ran the Cremer’s Jack and Jill Store, built their house and raised eight children. Anita was a member of the Spencer School PTA, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Hanson/McCook County Bookmobile Board, St. Mary’s Ladies Altar Society and St. Mary’s Choir.

Anita is survived by her eight children, JoAnn (Bryan) Schierholz, Jim (Susan) Cremer, Mary (Barry) Bruns, Roger (Joan) Cremer, Karen (Jerry) Hofer, John (Maria) Cremer, David (Jill) Cremer, and Paul Cremer (Toni Richardson); 20 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents; her siblings and their spouses, Signe (Elis) Bachman, Anna Marie, Elsie, Lawrence (Gayle), Ernest (Iris), Olga (Albert) Peterson, Lennart (Louise), Erma (Bud) May, Natalie (Charles) Fridley, Adney (Elsie), and Daine; and one son-in-law, Jerry Hofer.
