Harry Wallace Lambert, 90, a fourth-generation dairy farmer from Miner County, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023, in Mitchell, after a brief stay in hospice care. 

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Endeavor Presbyterian Church, Fedora. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-7 p.m., also at the Endeavor Presbyterian Church. After the memorial service on Saturday, a lunch will be served, with an Inurnment to follow at Graceland Cemetery, north of Fulton. In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts may be given in honor of Harry to the Graceland Cemetery Association in Fulton. 

Harry was born Jan. 24, 1933, to Earl and Lois (Carpenter) Lambert on the farm in South Dakota. In 1951, Harry was a graduate of Fedora High School, later attending South Dakota State University in Brookings. Harry served in the United States Army, being honorably discharged in 1956. Harry met and married Marion Paulette in Geneva, Ill., on Jan. 23, 1960.

After retiring from farming in 1992, Harry served the 100 residents of Fulton for 19 years by mowing, removing snow from driveways and serving on the Fulton Town Board.

Harry was an active member of the Endeavor Presbyterian Church, Fedora, serving on many committees and in leadership roles as Trustee and Elder. He was a founding member of the Helpful Workers 4-H Club, a lifetime member of the Royal Order of the Moose and recognized for his farming conservation practices.

Harry is survived by his children, David (Virginia) of Mitchell, Todd (Michele) of Sioux Falls, and Teresa (Jason) Nelson of Geddes; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three brothers, Neil and Merlyn, both of Colorado, and Darrell of Texas.

Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; parents, Earl and Lois; a brother, E. Clair; and sister, Eloise Moon.

John “Jack” Wiebelhaus, 87, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. 

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Will Funeral Chapel, with military rites. Burial was on Monday, Oct. 30, at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Will Funeral Chapel.

John “Jack” Wiebelhaus, son of John and Elizabeth (Schrage) Wiebelhaus, was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Hartington, Neb. He graduated from the eighth grade at St. Rose Catholic School in Crofton, Neb., in 1950. Jack entered the US Navy on March 23, 1954, serving on the USS Fort Snelling LDS-30. One of their missions was to assist with evacuations during the Suez Crisis. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 21, 1958.

Jack was united in marriage with Marlene DeBoer on Nov. 25, 1958, in Parkston. They were married for 48 years when Marlene passed away in August of 2007.

Jack worked for Zehnpfennig Ford in Parkston. They moved to Mitchell in 1970, where Jack leased and operated Holiday Gulf Station. Jack later purchased a service station on north main street that became known as Jack’s Sinclair. He later built two car washes that became known as Mega Wash. In 2000, Jack purchased the gas station that he had managed years earlier, and it became known as J-Mart Sinclair. Jack was an entrepreneur and had several other business ventures.

Jack is survived by his sons, Doug (Jeanne) Wiebelhaus of Mitchell and Tim (Lorrie) Wiebelhaus of Letcher; two grandchildren; special friend, Marlys Miiller of Mitchell; four step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Wiebelhaus; a son, Ronald Wiebelhaus; his parents, John and Elizabeth; his stepfather, Joseph Ebersdorfer; and his sisters, Betty Lowin and Martha Schomacker.

Robert “Bob” J. Dankey, 74, of Edina, Minn., passed away on Oct. 18, 2023, after a series of health issues.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Nov. 9, at Church of St. Patrick’s in Edina, Minn., 6820 St. Patrick’s Lane. Condolences can be sent to Kelsi Henningsen at 10120 Abott Ave South, Bloomington, MN 55431. 

Robert was born on July 5, 1949, in Mitchell, to Bernard J. and Florence M. (Kulik) Dankey of Woonsocket. He grew up as a member of St. Wilfrid Catholic Church, where he attended grade school.

Bob was a very personable and energetic young man, always involved in summer activities, including swimming, golf and tennis. Together with close neighbor and best friend Milt Authier, they spent many hours in the water, golfing and on the tennis courts.  Basketball was important, and it began on the grade school basketball team. In high school, he and Milt were strong members of very competitive teams that did well in tournaments. Upon high school graduation, Bob played one year on the University of South Dakota freshmen team. In later years, he was involved in golf and racquetball with friends and leagues.

Upon graduation from the University of South Dakota, he accepted a job with Hormel Foods of Minnesota and was assigned to the district in Buffalo, N.Y.  After a short time, he returned to the Twin Cities and accepted employment in the Microfiche data storing system business. As the years passed, he moved into the more traditional IT businesses. Bob loved interacting with people and was very comfortable in group settings.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Kelsi (Owen) Henningsen of Bloomington, Minn., and Kristina Kallianis of Libertyville, Ill.; four grandchildren; his brother, Joe Dankey (Carol) of Broomfield, Colo.; two nieces; great-nieces and nephews; and several cousins.  

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
