The Sanborn County Outreach Team met on Nov, 14 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Woonsocket.
Several leaders of the county gathered to discuss the present Outreach Ministries that are in place within the county.
They also addressed several needs in the community and through consensus have decided to focus the Team’s attention on two areas.
There will be a brochure developed that encompasses the businesses/churches of the county. This will be made available to the newcomers as a source of welcome and information sharing.
The second area of focus will be with the Food Pantry.
The team will extend an invitation to the churches to take the months of January and February to offer support with specific items. This was noted as a crucial time of the year after the holiday needs will traditionally clear the shelves.
Lynn Brueske offered thanksgiving for the incredible support to the Food Pantry and the numerous households that it supports with necessities for our neighbors.
If you have ideas for future projects that might assist our county members, please contact Pastor Rhonda Wellsandt-Zell at 350-0542.

PIERRE – The regular West River Deer season closes on Nov. 25, and the regular East River Deer season closes on Dec. 2. Nine additional days will be available to harvest antlerless deer, beginning Dec. 29 and ending on Jan. 6.
“We want to remind both West River and East River deer hunters that their ‘any deer’ and ‘any whitetail deer’ tags are only valid during the regular 16-day season, and that they will not convert to ‘antlerless tags’ like in previous years,” said Tom Kirschenmann, chief of terrestrial resources for the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department.
“Only unfilled ‘any antlerless deer’ and ‘antlerless whitetail deer’ tags will be valid for the late-season dates.”
The changes were made to accomplish additional antlerless deer harvest in areas of the state that need it most while curtailing the doe harvest where deer populations are at or below population objectives.
