Tanner Cross of rural Woonsocket and a student at Mitchell Technical Institute is making a name for himself on the national intercollegiate rodeo scene this season.
He is currently in 21st place in the national standings with 253.3 points in team roping as the heeler. Those 253.3 points puts Cross in fifth place in the Great Plains region.
Cross is also in a three-way tie at seventh place in tie down roping with 130 points in the region.
This past weekend, Cross earned a first place spot in the average tie down roping, second in performance, at the North Dakota State University event in Fargo. He also tied for second in the team roping performance and landed in 10th in the short go, ending up in a three-way tie for fifth in the average.
MTI’s men’s rodeo team currently sits at fifth place in the Great Plains regional standings with 1,108.33 total points.
Tanner is the son of Jim and Kim Cross, Woonsocket.
