Greg L. Miller, 57, Grand Island, Neb., died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, in St. Francis Medical Center at Grand Island.
Funeral services were Oct. 2 in Resurrection Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael McDermott and the Rev. Jim Schmitt officiating. Burial was in St. Wilfrid’s Catholic Cemetery at Woonsocket.
Greg L. Miller was born Jan. 5, 1955 in Mitchell to Milo and Iola (Jackson) Miller.
He grew up in Mitchell, graduating from Mitchell High School with the class of 1973.
In 1978 he received his bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University where he was captain of the football team and two-time All-Conference selection
He was united in marriage to Jane Larson on Sept. 23, 1978, in St. Wilfrid Catholic Church at Woonsocket.
The couple made their home in New Ulm, Minn., where he worked for Supersweet Feeds and was a territory salesman for the company. They were relocated to Rochester, Minn., and Washington Iowa, before settling at Grand Island, where Greg became director of western operations.
In 1994, he began his career in football as a regional scout with National Football Scouting, Inc. In 1998, he became the Midwest regional college scout for the Denver Broncos of the NFL and worked for the organization for 13 years.
At the time of his death, he was the director of player personnel for the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League.
Family, friends and faith were most important to Greg. He loved to watch his children participate in sports and enjoyed traveling to spend time with family and friends. He took tremendous pride in his faith and was an active member of Resurrection Catholic Church where he was confirmed in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Jane of Grand Island; a daughter, Ardrienne (Russell) Wyant of Rochester, Minn.; two sons, Mike (Molly) Miller of Tekamah, Neb., and Nolan Miller of Sioux Falls; three grandchildren; and one brother, Gary (Jackie) Miller of Park City, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Iola Miller.
