Jeff James Scherschligt, 56, of Mentor, Minn., died peacefully at his home on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012.
Funeral services were on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 in the Grace Lutheran Church, Erskine, Minn., with Pastor Tim Lundeen officiating. Visitation was Tuesday, Aug. 21, with a prayer service in the Grace Lutheran Church, Erskine. Burial was in the Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Mentor.
Jeff was born on November 10, 1955, in Yankton to Fred and Viola (Barta) Scherschligt. He grew up in Woonsocket where he attended grade school. He graduated from Wessington Springs High School, in 1974. Jeff lived in Arizona following high school.
On Aug. 23, 1985, Jeff was united in marriage to Pamela Bergstrom in Grand Forks, N.D. They moved to Maple Lake, near Mentor, where they have lived since. Together with their three children, Jeff and Pam owned and operated Lakeview Resort for the past 31 years.
His interests included riding motorcycle and snowmobiles, pheasant hunting in South Dakota, spending time on the lake and golfing. He also enjoyed his time in Arizona.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Pam, and his three children, Jenna, Mitch and Kali, all of Mentor; his mother, Viola Scherschligt, Wessington Springs; three sisters, Teresa (Larry) Fiala, Custer, Annette (Darnell) Madsen, Aberdeen and Kathy (David) Bauer, Ipswich; several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred in 2010.
