Shirley Joyce Spelbring, 76, of Artesian passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 in the Good Samaritan Society, Howard. Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 27 in Willoughby Funeral Home, Howard, with burial following in Prairie Flower Cemetery, Fedora. Visitation was noon Monday in the funeral home. Shirley Joyce Keller was born Aug. 11, 1936 on a farmstead near Iroquois, to Floyd and Rose (Lendo) Keller. She moved with her family at the age of four to Huron, where she attended school. On Oct. 6, 1953, She was united in marriage to Dale Lloyd Spelbring at Huron. The couple lived around Forestburg and Artesian. For the last 44 years she lived on a farm near Artesian, where she helped with the chores of a farm wife, mainly with milk cows. Shirley was noted for taking great care of her yard and also loved to attend the Wicks Auctions, weekly. She is survived by her three sons, Gary (Margaret) Spelbring of Artesian, Tom (Jana) Spelbring of Wisconsin and John (Cindy) Spelbring of Rapid City; two daughters, Debra (Bill) Robish of Marshall, Wis. and Brenda (Don) Herron of Custer; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray (Lorie) Keller of Howard and Jim (Lana) Keller of Montevideo, Minn.; and two sisters, Charlotte Taylor of Utah and Sandy Baker of Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren; and three sisters, Leona Erdman, Betty Madsen and Audrey Palmer. Condolences may be left at www.willoughbyfh.com.
