Sam Holman, II

Aberdeen

Dr. Sam Jones Holman, II passed away Nov. 9, 2012 in his home at Aberdeen.
He practiced and ran the Pony Hills Veterinary service and Vita Zest Corporation in Wessington Springs from 1950 until 1965.
He operated the Holman Vet Clinic at Aberdeen until 2001. He was the longest practicing vet in South Dakota.
A Navy Corpsman Pharmacist mate First Class, veteran of WWII in the Pacific, he received a Purple Heart, the Silver Star and a Presidential Citation for Valor in action at Green Beach, Iwo Jima.
He married Jacintha GeorgeĀ  in Raytown, Mo. and reared five children, Sam, Margaret, Tandy, John and Nathan.
They have seven grandchildren.
Internment will be in Arlington National Cemetery in June.
