The Woonsocket School staff and students put on a Veterans Day program Monday afternoon to honor all the local veterans and current service members.
All veterans in attendance were recognized, 17 in all, and each introduced themselves.
The students in grades five and six read some poems and demonstrated the folding of the American flag and what each fold stands for. The Woonsocket pep band was on hand to play and the kindergarten through fourth grade sang and signed “Proud to be an American.”
In honor of American Education Week the local group of the Town ‘n Kountry Kids also presented the teachers and staff with a gift.
The program was topped off with “Taps” played by Jonathan Linke and the retiring of the colors by the American Legion Post #29 Color Guard.
