The Christmas season is fast approaching. Sunday, Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. the Community Choir will present their Christmas concert, “Silent Night,” along with the St. Wilfrid youth group performing in the drama. Following the concert will be a community potluck.
There is no charge for the event, but people are urged to bring nonperishable items for the Sanborn County Food Pantry. The Community Choir will travel to Prairie View Care Center on Monday, Nov. 19 to give the concert again.
Sunday, Nov. 25 will be the beginning of Advent. Residents are urged to decorate their home and yards to make bright Christmas Lanes for everyone to enjoy.
The Sanborn County Courthouse is again urging residents of the county to decorate a tree at the courthouse for their annual “Parade of Trees.” Trees should be in place between Nov. 26 and Nov. 30 and remain until after New Years Day. (Removed by Jan. 4 if possible.) Contact Diane Larson (796-4513) or Lynn Brueske (796-4516) by Nov. 16 if you plan to bring a tree so they can make a plan of trees so everyone can be accommodated, or if you have any questions.
The courthouse employees will be hosting an open house with snacks on Friday, Dec. 7 from 1-5 p.m. Santa will be there from 3-4:30 p.m. Plans are being made for entertainment and a fun scavenger hunt. The trees can be viewed any day the courthouse is open.
