The Blackhawk grapplers participated in the Mt. Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica Titan Invite on Saturday, Dec. 15.
The Blackhawks were represented by Wyatt Stevens (106 lbs.), Coy Fastnacht (113), Logan Walter (120), Trinity Brunsen (138), Matt Terkildsen (160), Marshall Freideman (182), Jacob Fouberg (195), Lane Knipfer (195, UNA – unattached), Austin Moore (220), and Riley Schmiedt (220, UNA).
The young team had a very successful tournament: 106, Wyatt Stevens (6th) was defeated by Ben Soukup of Wagner 15-2; 120, Logan Walters (6th) lost by fall to CJ Tillotson of McCook in 2:49; 138, Trinity Brunsen (4th) lost by fall to Austin Ripp of Parkston JV in 1:26; 160, Matt Terkildsen (5th) defeated Michael Kludt of McCook Central/Montrose una by fall in 1:43; 182, Marshall Freideman (4th) lost to Adam Harms of Parker, 11-8.
At 195, Jacob Fouberg (3rd) by fall over Cain Rotert of MCM in the second period. 195 wrestling unattached, Lane Knipfer (5th) by fall over Alec Dagel of Parker; 220, Austin Moore (5th) won by fall over Kreg Kepplinger of Scotland; 220 wrestling unattached, Riley  Schmiedt (4th) lost by fall to Josh Waagen of Huron JV in 3:35.

Thursday’s boys’ basketball game between Sanborn Central/Woonsocket and Andes Central was a victory for the Blackhawks 62-48 on their home court.
Nick Miller finished with 18 points and eight boards for SCW, followed by Tyler Krueger with 15 points. Davion Brooks scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds.
The Blackhawks hit 25-of-60 from the field and 6-of-12 from the stripe as well as pulling down 31 rebounds and committing 11 turnovers.
Gabe Cournoyer and Zach Cournoyer each scored 11 points for the Eagles. Aaron Swanson chipped in 10 points.
The Eagles were 6-of-10 from the line and 16-of-47 from the field. Andes Central turned the ball over 16 times and hauled down 20 rebounds.
The Blackhawks are 5-0 and the Eagles fell to 2-3.

The Lady Blackhawks annihilated Mt. Vernon/Plankinton, 69-26, during doubleheader action Saturday in Plankinton. Leading the team was Shelby Selland with 16 points, six boards and four steals. Rachel Selland had a well-rounded night with 11 points, five boards, four assists and five take-aways. Also helping out the team was Marissa Weber, who put 11 through the hoops and assisted her teammates three times, and Myah Selland with nine points, nine rebounds and four steals. Morgan Selland added 10 to the scoreboard while Rachelle Moore racked up eight points, three assists and three take-aways. The Lady Blackhawks are now 5-0 heading into a Tuesday, Jan. 8 game, hosting Kimball/White Lake.
