The Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central Blackhawks crushed Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian 36-6 in football action Friday, Sept. 27 in Platte.
The Blackhawks struck first in the opening quarter on a 35-yard pass from Joe Davis to Austin Messmer.
In the second quarter, the Blackhawks recovered a fumble at their own 15-yard line, and on the first play after the recovery, Messmer scored on an 85-yard run. Later in the second quarter, he ran in another touchdown from 33 yards out.
Right before halftime, Joe Davis hit Tyler Krueger on a 63-yard touchdown pass to put the Blackhawks up 30-0 at halftime.
Midway through the third quarter, Messmer scored again on a four-yard run.
Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian put up their only points of the night with 30 seconds left in the game.
Austin Messmer rushed for 175 yards on 15 carries for the offense and Joe Davis completed four passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Jacob Fouberg led the defense with 12 tackles.
The Panthers were led by Coby Johnson who completed 10 passes for 97 yards and Nate Spawn who chipped in 55 yards on the ground and 30 receiving.
The Blackhawks, who improved to 3-1, travel to Hitchcock on Friday to take on Hitchcock-Tulare (3-1) in a 7 p.m. game.
