Charmaine Elaine Janzing,  age 76, of Mitchell, formerly of Artesian, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, Mitchell.
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 5 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Mitchell with Fr. Larry Regynski presiding.  Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Cenetery, Artesian.A scripture service was held Monday, Nov. 4 in the church.
Charmaine Elaine Grassel was born June 22, 1937, at home near Artesian to Clem and Alys (Bateman) Grassel. She attended country school for one year, then Parochial School at Woonsocket for one year and graduated from Forestburg High School in 1955.
After graduating, she worked at the ASCS  office and East River Electric in Madison as a payroll clerk.
On June 16, 1958, Charmaine married Ray Janzing. They   resided on a farm northwest of Artesian. There she helped her husband farm and raise four children. Charmaine also substitute taught, babysat and worked as a cashier for 14 years at K-mart. She was a long-time member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Artesian.
After her husband Ray passed, she later moved to Cathedral Squares in Mitchell. While in Mitchell, she joined Holy Family Catholic Church. She later moved to Avera Brady Health and Rehab.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Janzing; one grandson; her brother, Verald Grassel; her sister, Jeanne Jacquart; and her parents and grandparents.
She is survived by her four children, Cindi Janzing-Jenkins and husband, Tony, of Pierre, Laurie Grassel and husband, Ed, of Artesian, Debra Hunking and husband, Jeff, of Sioux Falls, and Doug Janzing and wife, Kim, of Artesian; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.
