Homecoming parade winners announced

FIRST GRADERS “Heard it Through the Grapevine” that the Blackhawks would win and looked awfully cute as purple balloon grape clusters.

The annual homecoming parade was held Friday afternoon with the theme of “Songs”. Winners for the elementary were: first – sixth grade, “Heart of a Champion”; second – first grade, “Heard it Through the Grapevine”; third – third grade, “Rock the Crusaders Like a Wagon Wheel”.
Winners in the seventh through twelfth grade division were: first – sophomores, “Danger Zone”; second – seventh and eighth grade; third – seniors, “Sponge Bob”.
The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket High School Marching Band looked great in their new uniforms, sounded wonderful and even gave a field marching performance in the middle of main street.
Both sets of royalty made their way through the parade, as well.
A few of the local businesses had floats to show their spirit. Whiting Memorial won first place for their creativity, followed by WEPC and First National Bank, SD.
