Kogel, Rassel teach sixth grade class how to fold the flag

By Jenna Stephens, Josie Weber and Carter Linke
Dave Kogel and Joel Rassel of the Woonsocket American Legion came to the sixth grade classroom and taught the students about

STUDENTS LEARN to fold the American flag in Mrs. Delvaux’s sixth grade class.

respecting and honoring the flag. This lesson will be used throughout the year, as the sixth graders have the responsibility of hanging the flag at the elementary school every day.
They learned how to show respect around the flag — the most important step was to never let the flag touch the ground. Our flag is a symbol of freedom and hope for the future and should be cherished.
The American Legion did a great job of demonstrating proper etiquette towards the flag and explaining the importance of our American flag.
There will be a flag retiring ceremony as part of this year’s Veteran’s Day program. Please bring “worn” flags that you may have to Mrs. Delvaux’s room at the Woonsocket School.
