THE WOONSOCKET High School sophomore class all took part in spirit week and therefore will be safe from the shame of kangaroo court. Celebrating “opposite sex day” is, in back from left: Miles Dise, Brady Tiede, Jastyn Ford, Noah Bruce, McKenzy Peterson and Rex Schlicht; front row: Lacey Christensen, Jacob Fouberg, Garrett Larson, Tayla Weber and Drae Blew.
Students all around the county are looking a little strange this week as they take part in their annual homecoming festivities.
Spirit week began on Monday for both Sanborn Central and Woonsocket schools. Each day students dress to coordinate with a chosen theme to try and boost school spirit and participation. Students who do not dress up throughout the week will be subjected to “kangaroo court” during coronation.
Themes included fake an injury day, tacky tourist day, opposite sex day, super hero day and fashion disaster.
Thursday evening both schools will hold coronation, crowning their respective king and queen (or chief and princess). The public is invited to attend.
Friday at 1 p.m. is the annual homecoming parade will begin. Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to take part in the parade.
Kickoff of the homecoming football game is Friday evening at 7 p.m. in Forestburg. The Blackhawks will take on Sunshine Bible Academy.
