The Woonsocket FFA Chapter and Sanborn Central FFA Chapter competed in the District 4 FFA Leadership Career Development Events in Mitchell on Nov. 18. First, second and third place individuals and first and second place teams are eligible for state competition.
The following individuals and teams earned a high enough placing to continue on to the State Leadership CDE in Pierre on Dec. 8-9.
Woonsocket FFA
Public Speaking: Jonathan Linke – second. The purpose of the FFA Prepared Public Speaking Career Development Event is to develop agricultural leadership, communication skills, and promote interest in citizenship by providing member participation in agricultural public speaking activities.
Creed Speaking: Aaron Linke – second. The purpose of the FFA Creed Speaking Career Development Event is to develop agricultural leadership through providing for member participation in speaking and interpreting the FFA Creed.
Junior Parliamentary Procedure Team: second. Members are: Wyatt Feistner, Shaun Snedeker, Charlie Enfield, Drew Olinger, Destiny Brick, Ty Ziebart and Dayna Opsahl.
The purpose of the FFA Junior Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Event is to encourage students to learn to effectively participate in a business meeting and to assist in the development of their leadership skills.
In addition, Jonathan Linke applied and interviewed for the FFA District 4 Officer Team and was chosen as District President. Some of his duties are to attend a Legislative Breakfast and District Officer training in Pierre, lead two Executive meetings, assist at FFA State Convention, work at a State Fair FFA event, help with District CDEs and help lead the Officer Leadership Retreat.
Sanborn Central FFA
Senior Parliamentary Procedure Team: second. Members are: Jessica Schmidt, Hannah Spelbring, Kelbi Dean, Haley Degen, Tyler Johnson, Cole Wormstadt and Jarid Bechen.
The purpose of the FFA Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Event is to present students with an opportunity to learn how to effectively conduct a meeting and to assist in the development of leadership, speaking, and problem solving skills.
Extemporaneous Speaking: Shane Nelson – third. The Purpose of the Extemporaneous Speaking Career Development Event is to develop the ability of all FFA members to express themselves on a given subject without having prepared or rehearsed its content in advance. This gives FFA members an opportunity to formulate their remarks for presentation in a very limited amount of time.
