Town & Country firemen excited to receive brand new fire truck

New rig replaces 30-plus-year-old truck

fire truck    Santa came early this year for the Town & Country Fire & Rescue firemen, when their brand new fire truck was delivered to Woonsocket last Friday.
The truck was ordered from Rosenbauer South Dakota in Lyons a year ago, following a successful opt-out vote last November to fund the vehicle. The total price tag on the truck came out to $268,232, within the estimate, and was delivered just two days late, due to last week’s blizzard.
The new truck replaces one that is over 30 years old. The opt-out was for a maximum of $50,000 for the next 10 years.
The new truck is a commercial pumper/tanker with an International MaxxForce9 engine and an International DuraStar chassis. It has a 1,277-gallon tank capacity and a side mount pump.
Rosenbauer is one of the largest distributers of fire apparatuses in the world, with sales in over 100 countries. The majority of Rosenbauer America’s production takes place at its Lyons, SD location, which has the output capacity of around 700 vehicles per year. Rosenbauer’s other plants are located in Wyoming, Minn. and Fremont, Neb.
