mitchell choir 12 web    Kadyn Turner has joined the Mitchell Area Children’s Choir. So far over the last two weeks, they have performed at the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell, at the Denny Sanford Premiere Center in Sioux Falls, and at the Mitchell High School along side the Mitchell Barbershop Chorus.
Those attending to watch her performances were Kelly Olson, Jason Turner, Averie Turner and both grandmothers, Shirley Olson and Connie Frazer.

With the fall weather staying so nice, it is hard to realize that the Christmas season is fast approaching.
Starting off the celebration is the annual Christmas Concert, “Come Let Us Adore” on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 5 p.m. at the Woonsocket Community Center. This inspiring concert will be performed by the Community Choir. Preceding the performance, the Spirit of Faith Church Bell Choir will play two numbers. There is no charge for the concert, but everyone is urged to bring non-perishable items for the Sanborn County Food Pantry. Following the concert will be a Community Potluck meal. All are invited.
Once again, the Sanborn County Courthouse is hosting “The Parade of Trees.” County residents, organizations and businesses are invited to bring an artificial tree (no lights) to the Courthouse and decorate it in their own style. There is no particular theme, just use good taste. This year, the public is asked to vote on their “Favorite” tree. The honored one will receive a small token of appreciation and an award.
The Courthouse employees ask that you let them know of your intentions to bring a tree by Nov. 23, so they can make a plan to accommodate everybody. Call Lynn Brueske (796-4516) or Diane Larson (796-4513) to let them know or if you have any questions. The trees should be in place between Nov. 28 and Dec. 8, and remain until after New Years, to be removed by Jan. 6, if possible.
There will be an Open House at the Courthouse on Friday, Dec. 9, from 1-4:30 p.m., with the Courthouse employees serving coffee, cookies, bars and cider. Santa, sponsored by the Woonsocket Community Club, will be present at the Courthouse on that day from 3-4:30 p.m. The Community Choir will also perform several Christmas songs. For fun, there will be a scavenger hunt with some County trivia and such. The trees can be viewed any day when the Courthouse is open, weekdays 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
County residents are also urged to decorate their homes and businesses with lights, signs, etc., to brighten the season.
