Sanborn Central School Board election results

The Sanborn Central School District voters decided on two questions at their Tuesday, June 21 election, held at the school.
Incumbent Justin Enfield received 53 percent of the vote over Melissa Ettswold for the open seat on the Sanborn Central School Board. The position is for a three-year term.
Voters also decided that the District should discontinue school board representation areas and have all school board members be considered “at large.”
Having been consolidated for 25 years and on-site at Forestburg with the entire K-12 for 12 years, the board felt there was no longer a need to have representation specifically from Letcher and Artesian with one “at large” position. It had also become difficult to find people willing to serve living in the required area.
Voters agreed with the board by 64 percent to discontinue school board representation areas in the future. The new rule takes effect July 1.
