On Friday, Dec. 9, Hugh Holmes, commander of the Mitchell VFW post, visited Sanborn Central School to present a writing award to seventh grader Destiny Moe.
Moe received third place in the VFW’s annual Patriot’s Pen writing contest. The topic this year was, “The America I Believe In.”
This is the third year in a row that a Sanborn Central Middle School student has placed in this contest.  The middle school English teacher is Ms. Susan Farrell-Poncelet.
