The Woonsocket Water Festival Committee has finalized the 2016 Fourth of July celebration schedule of events.
This year’s theme is, “It’s gonna be outta this world! May the 4th be with you!” The full weekend of activities is as follows:
Saturday, July 2
10 a.m. – 5K Space Race Run for Fun (prizes for best costume). Contact Rex Schlicht to pre-register for T-shirts (605-354-0498).
11 a.m.-6 p.m. – Open swimming with music by the pool.
1 p.m. – Food by M-T Corner at Lake Prior;
Blast off Race-n-Slide – by the pool (donated by Dakotaland Federal Credit Union);
3-on-3 Jamball Tournament;
Sand Volleyball Tourney Prelims;
Kamp’s Critters Wagon Train for Kids;
Cotton Candy/Sno Cones by the Woonsocket Student Council & NHS.
3 p.m. – Swimming competition at the pool.
5 p.m. – Alumni Social Hour at the Community Center.
6 p.m. – All-School Alumni Banquet.
9 p.m. – Fireman’s Dance- at the School Gym with Hadley & the Renegades.
Sunday, July 3
8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – St. Wilfrid Church Pancake Feed at the Community Center.
9 a.m.-12 p.m. – Fishing Derby for Kids at Lake Prior.
1-7 p.m. – Open swimming with music by the pool.
1 p.m. – Afternoon class reunions;
Bean Bag Tourney at Twin Lakes Resort.
2 p.m. – Legion Bingo & ice cream at the Community Center.
5 -6 p.m. – Pig Roast at Twin Lakes Resort.
Monday, July 4
11 a.m. – Parade (registration 9-10:55 a.m.).
12 p.m. –FFA BBQ Fundraiser at the School Gym.
12-6 p.m. – Open swimming with music by the pool.
12:30-4:30p.m. – Moon Rock Wipe Out Challenge (all ages), east side of Jamball Court;
Rocket Ship Slip-n-Slide, by the pool;
1 p.m. – Food by M-T Corner at Lake Prior;
Turtle Races;
Sand Volleyball Tourney Finals;
Cotton Candy/Sno Cones (sponsored by the Woonsocket Student Council & NHS).
2 p.m. – Wide Awake Hose Co. Fireman’s Challenge on the street, east of the school with area fire departments competing.
4 p.m. – Balloon animals with Noah – by the pool.
5 p.m. – Ribs Cook-Off Finals and Feed (contact Jeff Hotchkiss 350-7276).
6-8 p.m. – Star Wars Lazer Tag at the School Gym (for all ages – sponsored by Woonsocket teachers – free will donation).
7-9 p.m. – Music by the Lake – River of Life Band & Community Choir (by jamball court).
10 p.m. or dark – Fireworks display over the Lake (sponsored by Woonsocket Water Festival & detonated by the Wide Awake Hose Co.)
