There were two state winners in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) Education contest. The themes for the 2017 contest were “Whatever You Do For the Least of My Brethren, You Do for Me” (Matthew 25:40) and “Helping the Needy Where I Live”.
Those who placed at the state level were: Computer Art, Division 1 – Carter Christian, second; and Computer Art, Division 2 – Madison Schmiedt, third.
A brief meeting following worship services at Spirit of Faith Lutheran-Methodist Church on May 21 resulted in a combined W/ELCA and UMW organization. All women of the church are welcome.
The group will meet quarterly in January, April, July, and October on the third Wednesday of that month at 6:45 p.m. at the church. A business meeting and a short devotional or Bible study will be held.
Officers are: Chairman Connie Farris; Vice Chairman Vickie Hines; Secretary Sue Larson; and Treasurer Deb Boschee.
The first meeting will be July 19 at 6:45 p.m. at the church.

Blackhawks who qualified for the State Track Meet will compete in Sioux Falls this Friday and Saturday, May 26-27.
Qualifiers are: Boys Individuals – Logun Feistner, 100-meter, 200-meter; Spens Schlicht 300-meter hurdles; Boys Relays – 1600 Medley (Logun Feistner, Wyatt Feistner, Spens Schlicht, Trey Weber); 3200 Relay (Trey Weber, Jared Goldammer, Austin Schmit, Spens Schlicht); Girls Individual: Myah Selland, triple jump, high jump, 300-meter hurdles, 800-meter; Girls Relays: 1600 Medley (Trinity Boschee, Megan Poyer, Caycee Guinn, Ellie Von Eye – alternate: Taylor Lindsey).
