The South Dakota FFA Association hosted the 2017 State Leadership Development Events (LDEs) in Pierre on Dec. 3-4.
Alex Wormstadt, Austin Schmit, Madi Moody and Sawyer Senska represented the SC/W FFA Chapter as the Agribusiness Salesmanship team. They qualified for participation at State LDEs during the District LDEs held at Mitchell Technical Institute in November. While at State LDEs, the Ag Sales team placed 13th. In addition, Nathan Linke attended and assisted the SD FFA in the public speaking event room.
The Agribusiness Salesmanship event consisted of team presentation, individual sales portion, and a sales knowledge test. At the team presentation component, members are presented four customer scenarios and given thirty minutes to prepare a presentation. They then present to a panel of judges, as if the the judges were their supervisors, detailing how they would sell to the four customers described in the scenarios they received earlier. The individual component consists of one on one sales with a judge that fits one of the customer scenarios. They are evaluated on their ability to utilize the selling process in making their sales.
