Hegg places third in national competition

The National Field Archery Association held its Outdoor National Target Championship at the Easton Yankton Archery Center in Yankton. The two-day tournament began Saturday, Sept. 16, and concluded with an awards ceremony the next day.
Holden Hegg, grandson of Jim and Cathy Hegg of Woonsocket, and son of Neal and Jodi Hegg of Huron, attended his first national tournament and placed third in the Cub Male Bow Hunter Free Style division.
The NFAA recognizes young archers who join the Fellowship of the Robinhood during the event. Holden Hegg, 11, shot a Robin Hood on Sunday.
A Robin Hood is when an archer shoots a bullseye and then shoots the next arrow perfectly into the first arrow. This is his second Robin Hood in the two years he’s been shooting archery.
