Hjelm wins first in Cabela’s National Walleye tournament

Professional fisherman and Woonsocket native Duane Hjelm, 28, won first place at the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour tournament held May 11-12 at Lake Sakakawea, Garrison, N.D.
Hjelm, who now lives in Fort Pierre and works as an electrical lineman, caught a two-day total of 45.41 lbs. of walleye. With the win, Hjelm took home a total purse of $86,555, including a Ranger 620FS with a 250-horsepower Evinrude outboard, $15,000 in cash and $2,060 in Anglers Advantage money.
