The mission of Spirit of Faith Lutheran-Methodist Church has a future in the community of Woonsocket, thanks to the generosity of its members and a successful capital campaign over the last five weeks that raised $207,155 in pledged gifts to build a new church building.
Spirit of Faith, which became a united congregation of the Bethany Lutheran, Forestburg Lutheran and United Methodist churches a little over a year ago, has seen its mission to minister in the community grow. A larger building with handicap accessibility and a parking lot has been the vision of congregation members as they expand their ministry. A larger worship space for weddings, funerals and special church events is envisioned, as well as a larger fellowship hall, adequate storage and several classrooms for youth education and activities.
The congregation hopes to break ground at their present location in Woonsocket this coming spring, after the demolition of the United Methodist church building they are presently using. The pledged gifts will be received over the next three years, and fundraising activities will be ongoing in an effort to reach the estimated cost of construction.
