Friday night’s commencement exercises in Woonsocket begin at 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium, where 15 seniors will receive their diplomas.
Salutatorian Taylor Burkel and Valedictorian Aaron Linke will address the audience, and special music will be provided by the senior choral students.
Diplomas will be presented by School Board President Jason White. The eighth grade class will also receive diplomas as they enter the ranks of high school.
The Woonsocket Class of 2017 has chosen the motto, “The past is my heritage, the present – my responsibility, the future – my challenge.”
Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m., 12 seniors at Sanborn Central High School will bid farewell to their school.
Sanborn Central Valedictorian Myah Selland and Salutatorian Garrett Dean will address the audience. The keynote speaker, chosen by the senior class, is Corey Flatten.
Sanborn Central Middle School’s eighth graders will also be acknowledged as they receive their official entrance certificates into high school.
The class motto is by Dr. Seuss: “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
