Catholic United Financial has announced that Catherine Bechen of Letcher has been awarded one of their scholarships for this year. Bechen is a 2018 graduate of Sanborn Central High School and plans to attend South Dakota State University in the fall with an animal science major.

Catholic United Financial has been awarding scholarships to members since 1955. They have awarded over $150,000 in scholarships to recipients in ages ranging from 17 to 44, who will attend college, trade school or a diploma program in the fall of 2018. The Artesian High School classes of 1967 and 1968 celebrated during the morning and afternoon at the lake home of Larry and Mary Crane and attended the social hour and banquet in Artesian later in the day.

JoEllen Kempf, Judy Olson, Jerolyn Dean, Kathy Wormstadt and Judy Wormstadt toured the Mitchell Veteran’s Park at the south end of Mitchell’s Main Street on June 12. The park is a tribute to area Armed Forces members who have defended the United States of America. The names of the military men and women are engraved on a wall surrounding part of the park.  There are beautiful flowers and landscape plants that also decorate the park. It is definitely worth a visit! The park is sponsored by the Mitchell Area Garden Club.

The group also visited two of the “Yards of the Month” in Mitchell.

Later, Judy Olson hosted the gals for dessert at her home.
