Adaline Schlegel, 96, of Wessington Springs, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Prairie View Healthcare Community in Woonsocket.
Funeral services were Wednesday, April 11, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs, with Pastor John Paulson officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Adaline Marie Theurer was born on April 24, 1921, in Wessington Springs.
On Aug. 4, 1946, she married Armour Schlegel. They spent their married life in Wessington Springs. Adaline loved dancing and always thought Armour was the best dance partner around. She was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles.
After her husband’s death, Adaline was Jerauld County Register of Deeds. She also worked for the Department of School and Public Lands in Pierre, handling patents. Upon retirement, she lived in Florida, Sioux Falls and Wessington Springs.
She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs.
Adaline is survived by her son, Ron (Terry); her daughter, Deb (Richard) Ponto; three grandchildren; special nieces, Dorothea Tesch and Karen Baier; and special friends, Janet Baysinger, Don and Deb Patton, Deb Grohs and the Budahl family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Armour Schlegel; her father, Edward; her mother, Lydia (Heath); sister, Vivian; brothers, Myron and Robert; and special friends, Norma and Harris Budahl.
Arrangements were handled by Basham Funeral Service.
