On Friday, April 27, the JV and varsity baseball teams traveled to Redfield to take on the Redfield Muskrats. The varsity played first and easily handed the Muskrats a loss with a final score of 16-0 in three innings. Trent Kingsbury took the win on the mound as the only pitcher the Blackhawks needed that game.
In JV action, the Blackhawks lost a close one in the bottom of the fifth and final inning with a final score of 4-3.
The varsity team then traveled to Bryant for a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon, with the Blackhawks coming home with a split. They won the first game by one run after going into the seventh and final inning tied. The Blackhawks scored the winning run and then shut the team from Bryant down 1-2-3 to end the game.
The Blackhawks were down by five after the first inning of the second game, but they came back within two. The game went the full seven innings, also, but the Blackhawks just couldn’t gain any more ground and they ended with their first loss of the season.
The Blackhawks are now sitting at a record of 2-1 and had their next action on the field on Tuesday, May 1.
