On Tuesday night, Feb. 27, the Blackhawks met up with Oldham-Ramona/Rutland at the Corn Palace for their first game of the Region 4B Tournament. Although they were behind by three at the end of the first quarter, they outscored the Raiders 18-13 to gain the lead at halftime. They never lost the lead in the second half and ended with another victory, 67-55.
For their final round of region tournament play, the Blackhawks went up against the Chester Area Flyers for a chance to play in their first ever Round of 16 Tournament. They started out well with a good first quarter and a score of 13-5. The Flyers soon found their groove and made up some time and points and came within two points at the half. That groove continued and the Flyers took the lead by one at the end of the third quarter. But, SCW came alive and outscored Chester Area 21-7 in the fourth quarter and secured their place in the Round of 16 Tournament with a final score of 55-42 and the win.
The Blackhawks now go into the Round of 16 Tournament with a record of 17-5, and they face Clark/Willow Lake for their chance to get into the State B Basketball Tournament. That game will take place on Thursday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Huron Arena.
