Crystal Moore, 41, of Mitchell, died Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services were Wednesday, March 28, at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Burial will be at Cutler Cemetery in Cutler, Ill. Visitation was Tuesday, March 27, also at the funeral chapel.
Crystal Lee was born May 13, 1976, to Douglas and Gloria (Cofer) Wittenhagen in Augsburg, West Germany. She left Germany at two weeks old and moved with her mother to Lakeside, Calif., where they lived until her father was discharged from military service. At age one she moved with her family to Mitchell. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Terry Hanson.
In 1995, Crystal graduated from Woonsocket High School. She attended Dakota Wesleyan University for two years, but health problems prevented her from completing her degree. She was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at 18 and fought the disease for the rest of her life.
On April 7, 2001, Crystal married Jeff Moore at First Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Later that same year she and Jeff welcomed triplet sons: Connor, Christian and Caleb. Caden came along the following year. Her sons were the loves of her life, and she loved watching movies with them. Crystal had a great singing voice and enjoyed singing Karaoke.
She worked throughout her teen years and into adulthood at various job, but her favorite job was at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital.
On Dec. 16, 2016, Crystal had a massive heart attack. The Mayo Clinic would later tell her she needed a new heart and kidneys. The day prior to her death, she suffered several strokes.
Crystal is survived by her husband, Jeff Moore of Mitchell; sons, Connor, Christian, Caleb and Caden, all of Mitchell; mother, Gloria Hanson of Mitchell; brother, Jesse (Jennifer) Hanson and their children of Loomis; a step-daughter, Ember Moore of Texas; sisters-in-law, Krista and Melissa Moore of Mission; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Nathaniel; her father, Terry Hanson; maternal grandparents, Jimmie and Betty Cofer; paternal grandparents, Arnold and Mavis Wittenhagen; and a great-grandmother whom she loved dearly, Laura Hillard.
