Donald Eugene Krueger, 84, of Huron, died Monday, April 2, 2018, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.
His funeral service was Friday, April 6, at the Riverview United Methodist Church, with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation, with family present, was Thursday, April 5, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Donald Krueger, the son of John and Martha (Fuehrer) Krueger, was born July 18, 1933, in Wessington Springs. He grew up on the farm west of Wessington Springs and attended Longfellow School.
Donald married Clarice Mae Kneen on Dec. 18, 1951. They lived in Kansas for a short time before moving back to the farm west of Wessington Springs and later to Artesian, where they farmed until 1964, when they moved to a farm southwest of Huron.
Donald worked the farm, raising wheat, corn, hay, sheep, cattle and chickens, and running his backhoe. He loved working in his shop with family and friends. Playing cards was a favorite pastime, and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, racing and mechanic work.
Donald was a member of the Virgil United Methodist Church, where he attended faithfully.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Margaret Fuller of Hitchcock; his son, Steven (Anny) Krueger of Huron; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; four siblings, Leland Krueger of Alpena, Marcella Hehn of Huron, Dorothy Krog of Redfield, and Shirley (Bill) Erfman of Thorton, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Clarice; his parents; one granddaughter, Angie Krueger; two brothers; five sisters; and a son-in-law, Wade Fuller.
